Scholar.
Practitioner.

Bridge Builder.

Dr Levy is a scholar and practitioner working at the intersection of systems thinking, complexity, and social change.

His work focuses on helping individuals and organisations make sense of complex social challenges

and develop practical ways of learning, collaborating and acting within uncertainty. He brings together

academic foundations in complexity and systems theory with real-world experience in education,

public policy, youth development and organisational learning.

Across his career, he has worked with universities, public institutions, and social impact organisations

to design learning programmes, facilitate collaborative processes, and strengthen how people engage

with complex social problems.

Three closely connected areas of work

1

Systems Thinking

Understanding how social, organisational and policy challenges are shaped by interconnected structures, relationships and feedback loops — including the dynamics of complexity and emergence.

2

Policy & Politics

Examining how political systems, power dynamics and institutional structures shape policy processes — and how systems thinking can inform more effective and equitable policy design.

3

Applied Learning

Translating theory into practical tools, learning processes and facilitation approaches that professionals can use in real organisational and community contexts.

Why he works the way he does

Dr Levy believes that many social and development challenges cannot be addressed through technical solutions alone. They require new ways of thinking, learning and working together.

His approach is shaped by the conviction that people learn best when theory is connected directly to lived experience and organisational realities. Rather than offering fixed models or prescriptive solutions, he focuses on helping individuals and teams build their own capacity to navigate complexity, reflect critically, and adapt their practices over time.

This orientation informs how he teaches, facilitates and collaborates with organisations and partners.

"Rather than offering fixed models or prescriptive solutions, the focus is on helping people build their own capacity to navigate complexity."
