Community Analysis: Issues in America and Kenya

A virtual exchange integrated in a UF course on political and public policy issues in local communities. SAYDS fellows participated in structured sessions alongside UF students to compare governance strategies and community challenges in Kenya and the United States, applying systems thinking perspectives to how interconnected structures shape community outcomes in various political contexts.
African American Politics: Cross-Cultural Perspectives

A virtual exchange embedded in a UF course that explores African American political history from disfranchisement to the present. SAYDS fellows took part in breakout sessions comparing youth-led civic engagement in Kenya and the United States, using a systems lens to investigate how historical and structural factors influence political outcomes in both countries.


Policy in Focus: Global Education Policies & Comparative Perspectives
VIRTUAL EXCHANGE · UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA· FALL 2025
A structured 13-week virtual exchange between 40 SAYDS fellows and 25 UF students in International and Comparative Education courses, facilitated in partnership with UF faculty member Taryn T.C. Brown. Fellows contributed their lived experiences with Kenyan education systems in four phases: context mapping, comparative analysis, future visioning, and collaborative policy redesign.
Systemic Intervention Training for Youth Leaders
TRAINING PROGRAMME · SAYDS FELLOWSHIP · ONGOING
A 9-month programme delivering systemic intervention training to over 80 youth leaders across cohorts. Participants engage with the CAT and SIT toolkits, develop mental models for complex problem-solving, and apply systems thinking to real community challenges in their local contexts.


Peace Ambassador Systems Thinking Programme
FACILITATION · SAYDS × NAIROBI COUNTY GOVERNMENT
Facilitated a guided mentorship and practical training programme equipping Balaoi Peace Ambassadors with systems thinking tools to address root causes of community conflict — supporting participants in designing adaptive, inclusive interventions for long-term social cohesion and peace.
Cross-Cultural Policy & Governance Learning Exchange
LEARNING SESSION · SAYDS × UF VIRTUAL EXCHANGE
Structured virtual learning sessions connecting SAYDS fellows with University of Florida students around global education, policy and governance themes. Sessions developed cross-cultural communication skills, comparative policy analysis capability, and collaborative problem-solving across institutional and national contexts.
